RHYTHM & BOOMS
When is Rhythm & Booms?
There will not be a 2015 event. After 22 years, Rhythm & Booms has been put on indefinite hold due to lack of financial backing from community businesses and the public.
What is Rhythm & Booms?
Rhythm & Booms was Madison's Official Independence Day celebration, held the last Saturday in June. Started by Madison Fireworks Fund in 1993, it became the pinnacle of pyrotechnics in the Midwest. With the support of Madison Festivals Inc., Rhythm & Booms was moved from a park on the northeast side to downtown Madison in 2014. Held along the closed John Nolen Drive with barges placed in Lake Monona for people to view from all around the lake, Rhythm & Booms was deemed a success by attendees, organizers, city and county officials, vendors, sponsors and the community. Madison Festivals gave $26,000 to nonprofits that supplied volunteers for the event.
Who is Madison Festivals, Inc?
Madison Festivals, Inc.(MFI) is a not-for-profit organization that operates and develops events that build community. The Taste of Madison, Rhythm & Booms and Madison Marathon events enrich the lives of residents, highlight the city to visitors and raise thousands of dollars for local nonprofits and charities that provide volunteers. MFI does not receive financial assistance from the City of Madison or the State of Wisconsin. Primary sources of revenue are corporate sponsorships and donations, beverage sales, runner registrations and vendor fees.
